HEPA air purifiers are quite expensive. They are expensive because they can clean large areas up to 1,000 sq. feet.

A smaller, more affordable air purifier is better suited for small rooms. Therefore, the GermGuardian AC4825 HEPA Air Purifier is our recommendation.

This HEPA purifier is cheaper than other HEPA air purifiers. It also covers a smaller space (up to 167 sq. ft. As a result, it is ideal for bedrooms, homes, offices, apartments, RVs, boats, and other small spaces.

GermGuardian AC4825 employs a 3-stage process to remove 99.97% allergens and pollutants from indoor air.

Best Features

HEPA Air Purifier

1. Three Stage Filtration

GermGuardian AC4825 HEPA Air Purifier can combat a variety of allergens, including dust, pollen, smoke, pet hair, odors, and other airborne pathogens

It performs this by using three filters.

  1. Pre-filter + charcoal filter: Captures larger particles such as dust, pollen, hair, and pet hair. Pre-filter protects HEPA filters from clogging and ensures they last longer before being replaced.
  2. HEPA filter: Captures allergens such as pet dander and mold spores.
  3. UV-C: Kills all airborne pathogens, including bacteria and viruses. You can also turn off the UV-C lamp.

The GermGuardian AC4825 has two filters for air purification. The UV-C light doesn’t target allergens.

The two filters will suffice for most homes. However, if your home has high levels of pollutants, the purifier may be less effective.

You might be able to evacuate your home if there is a wildfire nearby.

A more powerful purifier is better if you want to eliminate heavy smoke and high levels of dust.

The GermGuardian AC4825 works well for moderate to high levels of allergens or odors.

2. Ideal for Small to Mid-Sized Rooms

GermGuardian AC4825 HEPA Air Purifier is suitable for rooms of up to 167 square footage. This is a great choice for a bedroom, nursery, or office rather than an open-plan living space.

It is also great for small apartments, RVs, and boats.

We recommend placing two to three Germ Guardian air purifiers in large rooms and strategically placing them around the room.

3. Three Speed Settings Plus Filter Indicator

HEPA Air Purifier

We have never seen a control panel as simple as the GermGuardian AC4825. There is only a UV-C button and a dial for fan speed control.

There are three settings available for fan speed. While the highest setting provides the fastest air purification, it is also the noisiest. It is as loud as a desk fan.

Night use is best at the lowest setting. Although it purifies the air more slowly, it is nearly silent.

A small red light on the control panel indicates that it is time to replace your filter.

Consider changing the filters every 6-8 months and the UV bulbs every 10-12 months.

Limitations

HEPA Air Purifier

GermGuardian AC4825 was designed for small rooms with low to moderate levels of allergens and pollutants.

It will not work well in larger rooms than recommended, particularly for those with asthma or allergies.

If there are many pollutants in the air, like wildfire smoke, it can get overwhelmed. To notice improved indoor air quality, some users had to turn the purifier up for several days.

Summary

A $500 air purifier is too expensive for a small bedroom or home office. For a fraction of the price, you can get a GermGuardian AC4825 compact air purifier.
