Alen BreatheSmart is a top-rated HEPA air purifier for large rooms and extra-large spaces.

This powerful unit can clean air in large rooms up to 1,100 square feet. It is ideal for open-plan living spaces and small apartments.

The most remarkable thing about the BreatheSmart purifier isn’t its large size but the quiet operation despite its high cleaning power. Many smaller purifiers make a lot more noise than the Alen BreatheSmart.

The Alen BreatheSmart is quite large, as you would expect from an air purifier that powerful. However, it looks impressive, so that’s not a problem.

This unit’s front is completely flat and bare. You can choose from more than 10 finishes to match your decor, including white, Rosewood, white and brushed bronze.

You can also choose the HEPA filter that you prefer. In addition, you can choose from various filter options for mold & bacteria and allergies & dust, smoke & chemicals, pet dander, odor, and smoke & chemicals.

You can customize your Alen BreatheSmart to suit any decor or specific needs.

Pros

Cons

Best Features

1. 1100 sq. ft. Coverage

BreatheSmart Air Purifier

Alen BreatheSmart offers the best coverage of any HEPA purifier.

This is the ideal choice if you’re looking for an air purifier to cover large bedrooms, open basements, or open-plan living areas.

This coverage is only applicable when the purifier runs at maximum speed. After that, it can still cover the same area but at a slower speed.

690 square feet is the ideal coverage for second-speed settings, which is still relatively large.

2. HEPA Filter with Customization

Depending on what kind of allergens and pollutants you are most sensitive to, you can choose which filter you prefer.

There are four types of HEPA filters.

HEPA Pure: Dust, pollen, dander, and other allergens.

HEPA Silver: To remove dust, mold, mildew, and bacteria.

HEPA Fresh Plus: To remove VOCs’ smells and fumes. These include perfumes, bleach, aerosol sprays, and air fresheners. These are also good for strong odors resulting from cooking, wildfires, and tobacco.

HEPA Odorcell:  Best for strong odors coming from pets, litter, and teenager rooms.

3. Large, Stylish and Customizable Finishes

Alen BreatheSmart, as I said, is much larger than an ordinary air purifier.

These machines tend to be bulky and not very stylish. However, the wide variety of customizable finishes makes this machine a standout.

Oak, Rosewood, and weathered grey are all options for traditional styles. White, graphite, and primer are all options for modern styles.

You can also choose a color that matches the decor in your home.

4. Quiet Operation

This air purifier is quieter than you’d expect for a device this size and powerful. WhisperMax technology allows it to remain quiet even at high fan speeds.

It can be quite loud at high Turbofan speeds. It’s more like a soothing white noise sound, almost inaudible in a large space.

You can use the lower speeds for bedtime, as they are quieter.

5. Auto Mode and Air Quality Indicator

BreatheSmart Air Purifier

Auto mode allows the purifier to automatically choose the fan speed that is best for the air quality.

When someone begins to cook or dust blows in, the fan speeds up the airflow through the filter.

By changing the color of the light, a light indicator will tell you how clean or dirty your air is.

It will initially stay red after installation. This means that your indoor air quality is poor. However, it will change to yellow after a few hours or days, which means your indoor air is clean.

It will usually switch between yellow or blue most of the time and sometimes to red if there is an increase in air pollutants.

Limitations

The price is the main problem. The Alen BreatheSmart is about twice the price of mid-range purifiers.

It is undoubtedly worth it.

It is more powerful than other air purifiers and has more features.

Another issue is its size. However, I don’t believe this is an issue given the size of the rooms.

Specifications

Summary

The Alen BreatheSmart is expensive, but in our opinion it’s worth it.

Families will love the Alen BreatheSmart. It is quiet and powerful and can clean very large rooms. It is also powerful enough to clean an entire studio or 1-BR apartment.
